While I love learning about the newest, greatest products in natural medicine and spending hours each week trying to catch up with the ever-changing world of nutrition, I have to remind myself that nature always does it best!

While vitamins and supplements certainly have a place, we can’t overlook the fact that the most potent antioxidants in the world are found in your kitchen!  ORAC value is a measurement of how potent and absorbable certain antioxidants are to the body.

So what are THE MOST potent antioxidants that have the highest ORAC values?
Cloves, turmeric, cinnamon, garlic and cayenne—to name just a few! These are the tried and true healers that have been used for centuries and we still can’t match them. Nature does it best.

How often are you using these potent spices in the kitchen? 

With spring around the corner, we’ll be making spring tonics soon, but I wanted to share my favorite antioxidant tea recipe with you.

 Warming Turmeric Tea

  •  1 cup of unsweetened almond milk, coconut milk or raw milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2-inch wide round slice of ginger root, peeled and finely chopped
  • Dash of cayenne pepper
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Coconut sugar to taste (or liquid stevia)

*If it is evening time or you are feeling anxious, throw in a bag of chamomile tea… ahhhh
*turmeric is a fat soluble spice – mixes best and recommended with some kind of fat like raw milk

Add spices to your coffee, tea, yogurt, grains, veggies, meats, soups—don’t be afraid to experiment and don’t lose a meal or beverage opportunity to pack in the extra antioxidants—we all need them!!!!
