Foods That Age You

Foods That Age You

Each and everyone one of us is getting older each day, but some of us, on a cellular level, are aging more quickly.  There is a metabolic process in the body that is directly linked to how our cells age.  The acronym, appropriately named, is AGE’s, advanced glycosylated end-products.  Simply put, this is how sugar and protein interact and form complexes in the body… AGE’s.  People with diets high in sugar, simple carbohydrates or inflammatory foods will readily form these complexes leading to problems related to premature aging.  Who wants that?

  • fatigue
  • poor digestion
  • wrinkles
  • joint stiffness
  • thinning hair and skin
  • mental dullness
  • poor eyesight
  • weight gain
  • poor circulation

Bottom line, the more sugar and carbohydrate rich foods you eat the more quickly you age.  Again, we have very common signs and symptoms that are not normal.  No judgment here, I just want you to know you don’t have to experience them.  And, if you do, there’s a way to bounce back.

**Here is an important point, some of you are STILL recovering– myself included– from a childhood full of sugary foods.  Some of you are still suffering because your cells have lost the ability to maintain balanced blood sugar levels from a PAST of too much sugar (and yes, sugar includes the bottom of the “healthy food pyramid guide” we grew up on of pastas, breads and cereals!

If you are a current sugar addict–do the cleanse program and get it out of your life.  It’s incredibly freeing and can be easier than you think.  If you are recovering from a past of high sugar foods, make sure your diet is clean, you have eliminated the inflammatory foods, and look into ways you can get your cells to respond appropriately to foods again.

Some other tips:

  1. High intensity, short duration exercise (Huge health gains in as little as 60 seconds a few times a day, no joke and well-researched)
  2. Improve body conditioning – excellent muscle tone, appropriate body fat
  3. Protein rich foods high in CLA (grass-fed meats & dairy, pastured eggs)
  4. Monitor stress levels
  5. Nutrients, nutrients, nutrients: — benfothiamine, chromium, alpha-lipoic acid, Vitamin D, Antioxidants!

    Take care of yourself,
