Digest Your Stress

Digest Your Stress

I had so much fun Sunday at our Live viewing of the documentary, Hungry for Change. We had a full house!

3 Key Tips in the movie I found very interesting and wanted to elaborate on…
1. Dr. Northrup (featured in the movie image above) mentioned Liquid Pounds–what does that mean? Liquid pounds refers to inflammatory pounds and the associated water retention. Liquid pounds are the rapidly fluctuating pounds that come from food sensitivities, chronic pain, stress, lack of sleep, etc. It is fascinating to see how many liquid pounds some people carry.

Some people think they are carrying extra pounds in fat when they are really carrying extra pounds in inflammation.
There is a cascade of metabolic events that happen when the body is inflamed- cytokines, leukotrienes, histamine and prostaglandins are released in an effort to protect your body from harm. All of these messengers contribute to liquid pounds.
2. “Digest your stress” was referred to a few times. I like this concept of processing stress–It is key to our modern lifestyles. What are you doing to “digest your stress?” Are you sleeping well? Waking refreshed? Finding time for things you love and enjoy? Are you digesting your food, literally? Eating Clean food? Exercising– not too much and not too little? Are you energized by your life and your life choices?
Ask yourself this daily–What are you doing to “digest your stress?”
3. The paradigm shift from– “I Want It, But Can’t Have It… to… I Can Have It, But Don’t Want It”.
This is a powerful shift and it is what I always want to see with people. There is no such thing as deprivation. There are no judgments.  A shift happens when you change your habits and you eat clean foods and find what works well for your body, you stop wanting certain foods.
A good example is getting sugar out of your diet. I frequently see people break into a cold sweat when I mention it.  But when you do, you feel so good, so clean, free from the cravings.  The shift happens.  There comes a point where you taste the natural sweetness of your foods and the refined sweet foods lose their appeal. In fact you cannot fathom putting junk into your body anymore. You simply don’t want it! It’s a beautiful place to be! I wish this freedom for everyone.
Do you see how these 3 points are tied together? I hope so. 🙂
I love that we can come together as a group and watch a mindful documentary or get together to support each other for yet another sold out 21 Day Metabolic Cleanse.
You know the famous Gandhi quote, “Be the change you wish to see–?”
Well, I think we are doing that– together!
