What We Get at Trader Joe’s

What We Get at Trader Joe’s

I had 2 patients in one week ask me what we buy at Trader Joe’s.  Great question.
Honestly though, I haven’t been to the grocery store in months thanks to our CSA, the local farmers markets and a teenager that now drives (gulp!) and gets the privilege of doing it for me.
I sent my latest TJ’s list I created for my 16 year old and thought I would pass it along to everyone else.  Trader Joe’s can be tempting so best to head with a list!  While there are many healthy options you have to pass a lot of unhealthy ones along the way.  Like any other grocery store, including healthier ones like Whole Foods, you really have to watch the types of oils they use in their food.  While TJ’s has a non-GMO policy (yeah!), they still use many different inflammatory oils like canola, in their foods.  And don’t go there hungry, you’ll end up with items you don’t need… trust me:-)
How we shop:
We start the week with a Monday delivery from Fire Ant Farms.  They deliver CSA bags to everyone here at the office.  We can get extra bags if anyone is interested ($20/bag).  We get our meats delivered to our front door from Keegan-Filion Farm and Pastured Pantry each month.  On Saturdays, we will hit the Sea Island Farmers Market for some fresh seasonal veggies.  Some Sundays we’re hit the Sunday Brunch Farmers Market on James Island.  And of course, we get our eggs from our own little flock of lovely ladies.
Then, here are our go-to’s at TJ’s.  Do you have any must-haves from TJ’s?  I would love to know about them.
